As a web designer / developer
myself, I am well aware that the biggest potential threat to websites is the
hosting server. Many times over the years, I've created websites that
my clients were happy with, only to have problems arise due
to server issues.
Server problems were extremely frustrating because I couldn't reach across
the Internet and personally solve the problems. Instead I had to communicate,
via emails and phone calls, with server technicians that all too often
did not understand the issues at hand, because after all they are hardware and systems guys, not software guys.
I once built a website for a
client, and launched a marketing campaign to bring paying members to the
site that was a tremendous success - for three days. Then his hosting server
went down. It took three more days to get the hosting company (a large
one) to realize that the server was indeed down. Four more days for them
to build a new server and get it online. It was enough to kill the client's business. Communication was only through their support ticket system which obviously was not sufficient.
SmBizHosting clients get the number to the phone on my desk. Jean or I answer the phone, not some parttime high school kid. If we're out, my cell phone is on my belt and I answer it when it rings. All hosting clients get my cell phone number as well as our office number. I couldn't personally handle support calls unless our hosting was setup flawlessly. The only support calls I would get were from people needing help setting up their websites, so we decided to offer to move and setup sites for free!
Joomla is a CMS (content management system) that is on a par with the best commercial systems, yet it is free. With Joomla, you can maintain your own website - add new content (text, images, etc.), remove content, change content - all without any web coding know-how. That's right, now users have the power to run their own websites, and stay mostly independent of the web developers and even the web designers to whom they'd been writing frequent and large checks.

with it's built-in sample data and leave it to you to use its administrator
pages to setup your website content, or you can let CompuSolver.com convert
your current site (from $100) or build a new one for you. After it is
initially setup, you should be able to handle everything yourself from
then on.
